Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) roofing is making a comeback! That’s right for a great many years PVC roofing was “state of the art”. The problem is, at their inception these roofs utilized a non-reinforced material and were susceptible to contraction, hardening, and failure due to temperature and UV exposure. The next generation of PVC roofs utilized a ‘scrim’ reinforcement and was branded as “cold polymer alloy”. The move was too late as alternate materials overtook PVC in popularity. Fast forward 20 years later, vinyl roofing is back with all the right features and performance that is now looking like a superior option as compared to its counterparts.
